The Intergills are very pleased to announce that Alan Liptrott has agreed to accept our invitation to become the club's Patron.
After our unfortunate exit from the WorldNET 2005 tournament on Sunday 17th July, manager Martin Andrews asked Alan Liptrott if he would like to become the club's patron.
Alan, who travelled with the InterGills to the annual 64 team Worldnet tournament in Leeds at the weekend, was delighted to accept the invitation and is already looking forward to watching the club compete in the Medway Messenger Combination League next season.
InterGills manager Martin Andrews told GillsConnect: "I am proud and honoured to announce that on Sunday 17th July 2005 Alan Liptrott was delighted to accept our invitation to become the Patron of InterGills F.C.
"Since the clubs formation in 1997 Alan has been a big supporter of the club and has helped us out many times over the years. With this club changing direction and heading very much a family orientated team, Alan typifies everything this club is striving to become."
He continued: "Just this season alone Alan has travelled away to Fulham with the side, and this weekend travelled up to Leeds, along with his wife Gloria, to support the InterGills.
"More importantly he made it an even busier weekend for himself, when midway through Saturday he made a dash from Leeds to Nottingham to give his support to his beloved Gillingham as they played Notts County."
In order to make the event, and in honour of Alan and his dedication to Gillingham FC, the InterGills Player of the Year Trophy will now be named the "Alan Liptrott Shield".
All the players and committee of InterGills Football Club look forward to working with Alan to make the side a bigger, better, family fun team.
Comments from Alan on returning home from Leeds:
"what a fantastic time Gloria and myself had at Leeds with the InterGills and how we were looking forward to returning next year. Such a shame InterGills were robbed by a dubious decision near the end but all credit to the lads for a brilliant all round performance."
"I'm chuffed to bits at becoming the Clubs patron and will do do all I can to help the InterGills in various ways off the field plus getting along to their matches and cheer them on to victory."
